Working with Children in Worcester

We use the power of structured sport, movement, and creative learning to nurture the mental wellbeing, confidence, and social development of young people. Our programs are built around a core Social & Emotional Learning (SEL) pathway that helps students grow emotionally, think positively, connect socially, and reach their full potential.

Why engage with us?

Our aim is to children and young adults in Worcester and the surrounding areas to:

  • Improve physical health and fitness at all levels

  • Develop technical skills

  • Improve mental and emotional well-being of all participants

  • Encourage a positive mindset and resilience

  • Encourage social interaction and teamwork,

  • Community engagement to enable those who would not usually participate to do so

  • Build and maintain sports facilities to enable a suitable environment for the implementation of the above

  • Provide sports equipment and clothing to make sure the activities can go ahead and also make the participants feel included (some may never have had that feeling of being included in a community before)

  • Promoting inclusivity and diversity in sports and enabling those from ethnic minorities and lower incomes to participate

Giving children and young adults new sports skills is not just about the sport.

Developing ‘technical’ skills is essential for confidence within sport, but developing the person's broader skills, whether with mindset, teamwork, or resilience, achieves greater outcomes for the individual, the wider community, and, in turn, society too. These skills can be transferable to other areas of their life, such as at school and socially.

Engaging in sports can have positive effects on mental and emotional well-being. Regular physical activity has been linked to improved mood, reduced stress, increased self-esteem, and better concentration and focus. My coaches and I promote a positive mindset in children by focusing on their strengths, providing constructive feedback, and creating a supportive and encouraging environment where they are not afraid to make mistakes. We can help children develop a positive attitude towards challenges and setbacks.

SEL & Wellbeing Pathway

Our pathway is designed to recognise individual areas of need and provide every student with practical tools to grow into more confident, resilient individuals — equipped for challenges on and off the pitch. We embed these five core SEL areas into every session through sport, group work, creative challenges and movement-based mindfulness:

  1. Self-Awareness – Discovering personal strengths through sport, building confidence, adopting a growth mindset, and setting aspirations.

  2. Self-Management – Developing resilience, emotion regulation, and perseverance through movement, including yoga and boxing-inspired activities.

  3. Responsible Decision-Making – Learning to take ownership of actions, solve problems, understand values, and build healthy daily habits.

  4. Relationship Skills – Strengthening teamwork, communication, conflict resolution, and trust-building through shared goals and play.

  5. Social Awareness – Fostering empathy, kindness, cultural awareness, and mutual respect in every session. These values aren’t just taught — they’re experienced through every challenge, every activity, and every shared win.
